Check It Out #6 (14/10/15)

This week has seen us announce the first half of the line up for our first live event, 'Music In Time Presents...', as well as some new releases from some really talented musicians. So there's a mix of announced line up acts and some other really great music in this week's check it out post... Enjoy!

1. Something New - Sarah-Jayne

One of our recently announced acts for our live event is Sarah-Jayne, previously featured and reviewed on our blog (here). As I included 'Jack Daniels' in that feature, I thought I'd link 'Something New', another original in this blog post. There's no denying Sarah-Jayne has beautiful vocals and has a skill for writing wonderful songs, both lyrically and musically.

2. Billie Jean (cover) - Tom Baird
Another member of our line up, is Tom Baird. Tom is an acoustic rock / pop singer-songwriter; he started and performing in 2011 and has performed at many gigs and festivals, including main stage at West Dean Festival and Arundel Festival. In 2013, he was winner of the Best Newcomer Award at Chi Live's Battle of the Bands. Here he is with a fab cover of Michael Jackson's classic 'Billie Jean'.

3. Bird - Billie Marten

Billie Marten is back with her new track 'Bird', taken from her forthcoming EP 'As Long As' - available to pre-order here. I've been listening to Billie's music for a while now and each song she's released has surpassed the previous. 'Bird' is stunning, with beautifully deep and honest lyrics and a wonderful instrumental to back it. It would fit in a film soundtrack and holds a fantastic soundscape, which is also accompanied by a beautiful music video...

4. Fight Song - Rachel Platten

This song by American singer Rachel Platten was released as a single earlier this year in February. The song has been a Top 10 hit in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, the UK and the US; and it's gone 2x Platinum in the United States too. It's a fab song and truly deserves all the credit it's gained - if you haven't already heard it, now's your chance to!

5. Autonomy (Slave) - Samm Henshaw

Samm Henshaw is an incredibly talented singer/songwriter and record producer. He's gained mainstream radio support from BBC Radio 1's Dev and Phil & Alice and was handpicked by James Bay for his recent tour support. 'Autonomy (Slave)' is taken from Samm's latest EP 'The Sound Experiment', which is out now (grab it here) and as with all his tracks presents his wonderful soulful pop music, here he is performing it live with his band, The Sound Experiment.
